In preparation for taking on his father's role as Takeshi Hongo / Kamen Rider #1 in the movie Kamen Rider: Beyond Generations, Maito watched the original series to understand the character and consulted with his father for advice. Fujioka had been interested in the entertainment industry since he was a child, but never actually wanted to be an actor as he wished to pursue music. However, after receiving the offer to portray Sega Sanshiro's son, he made his debut.
