Her father worked for Iran's Foreign Ministry and her mother, an Azerbaijani from the city of Baku, was a sports teacher.She began her acting career with the film"Spiders Web" (1964) and was undoubtedly one of the larger pre-revolutionary figures of Iranian Film. Katayun, unfortunately dealing with breast cancer in recent years, has been left unable to act. She has two daughters, Nazi and Niloofar.
